In February, the MVP blog is looking at those helping diverse communities around the world.
Microsoft MVPs have a reputation for being high-flyers – and arguably no more so than Mario Trentim.
In addition to Mario’s impressive tech background, the Brazilian Office Apps and Services MVP serves on the board of ITAEx, a foundation created by the Brazilian Air Force’s highly prestigious Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA).
ITAEx is an organization of ITA alumni that focuses on democratizing technology education to help students gain access to greater technological expertise.
Mario is a firm believer that technology skills and digital literacy are the foundations of inclusiveness.
Mario has enjoyed instructing more than 4,000 MBA students and is humbled by the fact that more than 200,000 people have viewed his courses on LinkedIn Learning.
“People learn by doing and we learn from each other,” he said.
The goal of ITAEx is to fund educational initiatives related to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), which is “100% necessary to creating a more inclusive and innovative society,” Mario shares.
“The goal is to create an environment that allows us to witness the birth of new startup companies and see new advances in the way we innovate. If you want to be competitive and innovative, your success is 100% dependent on your commitment to diversity and inclusion,” Mario says.
The more Mario works with people from different backgrounds, the more he feels he discovers new mindsets that allow him to embrace completely different points of view. “And that’s the point of technology!”
