We’re happy to announce the addition of the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification to our portfolio, to be released in early December 2021. This new certification validates the skills of administrators working in hybrid environments. Hybrid is the reality for many organizations that are building new cloud-native applications, while still supporting current on-premises applications, and Windows Server administrators help organizations successfully make the most of these environments.

Administrators in this role support their teams and organizations using Windows Server—both in the cloud and on-premises—by performing critical tasks, such as elevating security posture starting with the operating system, extending the datacenter to Azure for greater IT efficiency, and taking advantage of a flexible platform to modernize applications. Windows Server hybrid administrators can run new and existing business-critical applications on Azure, on-premises, and at the edge.

The Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification

You’re a great candidate for the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification if you have subject matter expertise configuring and managing Windows Server on-premises, hybrid, and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform workloads. You should have extensive experience working with the Windows Server operating system.

Typical responsibilities for administrators in this role include:

  • Integrating Windows Server environments with Azure services and managing Windows Server in on-premises networks.
  • Managing Windows Server IaaS workloads in Azure, in addition to migrating and deploying workloads to Azure.
  • Collaborating with Azure administrators, enterprise architects, Microsoft 365 administrators, and network engineers.
  • Implementing and managing on-premises and hybrid solutions, such as identity, management, compute, networking, and storage.

Professionals in this role have experience performing tasks related to security, migration, monitoring, high availability, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery. They use administrative tools and technologies, including Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Azure Arc, and IaaS virtual machine (VM) administration. In addition, they work with Azure Automation Update Management, Microsoft Defender for Identity, Azure Security Center, Azure Migrate, and Azure Monitor.

You’ll need to pass two exams to earn this certification. These exams, Exam AZ-800 (beta): Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure and Exam AZ-801 (beta): Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services, will be available in early December 2021. If you’re a skilled Windows Server hybrid administrator, we encourage you to participate in the beta. Stay tuned for the announcement.
