Question about Intune for Education (does it include standard Intune - yes/no?)

Steel Contributor

I'm having a hard time figuring out if Intune for Education, included with Microsoft 365 A3/A5, includes the regular version of Intune PLUS Intune for Education, or if it ONLY includes Intune for Education, but NOT the regular version of Intune.

Can anyone please confirm?  I've read these pages and the answer is not spelled out clearly enough for me to confidently know the answer:

When to use Intune for Education versus full Intune console for schools - Microsoft Tech Community

What is Intune for Education? | Microsoft Docs

Thanks in advance.

Intune for Edu is just a simplified admin portal for edu clients. They can still access full fledged Intune portal if they would like.

A3/A5 is nothing but edu sku with better pricing equivalent to E3/E5 sku.

Here is the link for both portals:
https://intuneeducation.portal.azure.com/
https://endpoint.microsoft.com/
It looks like it includes both - I've been using Intune for a while on my tenancy (Edu A3 licences) and didn't even know there was a special Edu version! I've got access to both intuneeducation.portal.azure.com and the main endpoint.microsoft.com admin consoles.

Thanks both for the responses.  I'm glad to hear the full version is included with the M365 A3/A5 subscriptions.  The customer tenant I'm working with also have an EMS E3 subscription, so it was hard to know if they had access to the regular Endpoint Manager portal because of those licenses, or if the A3/A5's would also cut it, if/when they do away with the EMS E3 subscription.

I still would love to see an official writing confirming that M365 A3/A5 do in fact include regular "Intune".  When I look at this Docs article - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/licenses - it sort of looks like M365 A3/A5 are not on the list of products which include "Microsoft Intune", while they are the only products that include "Microsoft Intune for Education"

@Jeremy Bradshaw Yes, I agree the docs could do with being clearer and official confirmation would be nice.

I've just had a look at the service plan details for M365 A3 for faculty and it lists both Intune for Education and MS Intune:

@CoasterKaty Thanks again very much, that is official enough for me. FYI as well, I also just now found it in writing. Ironically in a tiny footnote, on this page:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-365-platform-service-descripti...

Under Management and Security, "Intune for Education6" is listed.  At the bottom, footnote 6 states "6 Includes Intune" (FTW!).
