SAML Authentication and Command Line Applications - Is this possible?

So I am looking at using SAML as opposed to RADIUS for an internal application/service we use. Command line access is needed by some of the admins and I am curious if SAML can work with the command line to prompt the user for the second form of authentication. 

Is this possible or can it only be used for web apps specifically?
