Select authentication method on a per user base

Hello,

Round about one year ago there was a announcement and a demo of how to select the authentication method on a per user base. 

For example: User A and User B authenticated with ADFS; User C and User D authenticates with password hash sync. All users are within the same domain.

At this moment I would like to know how it is going on.

I searched around the web but nothing found.
Is there anybody out there who knows something about this new feature?
