How to safely switch from AAD Cloud Sync to AAD Connect

Hello everyone. Can someone help me understand how to upgrade from AAD Cloud Sync to AAD Connect safely, please? Since the AAD Cloud Sync has a limited feature set, I must upgrade to the old good AAD Connect, but I cannot find any official documentation, so I have many questions like “what will happen with the existing user account in AAD after switching between two sync method?”.
