MDI Sensor Updates options?

Brass Contributor

Hi,

So far we have noticed that MDI Sensor updates can be "automatic" or "delayed".

However, for our Production environment, we'd like these updates to be controlled by our team, once they have done their testing in a TEST Environment (i.e. we do not want them to be "automatic" or "delayed").

How do we therefore change the MDI Sensor update to be "manual", or via SCCM or similar?

Thank you,

SK

Hi @ShimKwan
I'm interested in hearing whether you've encountered any problems with automatic updates. The MDI sensor is updated several times a month with new detections, which can make it challenging to test every update thoroughly before deploying it into production. As you might be aware, the recommended approach is to use the delay option, which schedules updates to occur 72 hours after they are released to the MDI cloud service. As far as I know, there aren't any official alternatives to prevent these updates from being installed automatically.

If a driver is needed windows will find the nearest working available update and sometimes the update has issues. U can set your pc up to only notify u of updates but not install them them. U can download updates manually but I'm not sure if u can set them for manual install on one particular driver, your best bit is to go the manufacturers website for your laptop or pc and download the sensor driver from there plus itl be a newer version than what windows put in automatically
Thanks @MatejKlemencic .... perhaps the recent CrowdStrike event will get Microsoft to reconsider how these updates (and others) get shipped and what options the end users / clients have at their disposal. Cheers
