What’s the difference between AMA and MMA.
Hi Community,
How we can check MMA OR AMA agent version, is there any option to update or upgrade the agent’s ? What’s the difference between MMA AND AMA .
Defender for Endpoint only supports MMA, and not AMA.
So you should probably be asking in a different category. The only platforms that currently require MMA are Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2008 R2, which will all go EOL before MMA disappears, so there will not be any need for AMA.

Microsoft
Correct, MMA is a supporting agent for older OS. Whilst AMA is positioned as a replacement, this has no bearing on MDE: AMA will provide log retrieval for various Azure-based log analysis and related features.
