Getting AV installed on Server 2008 R2

We're migrating from sophos to Micosoft AV. Ive onboarded a Server 2008 box and see it in the 365 admin console. It doesn't look like AV is on the box (I'm finding navigating endpoint universe all very confusing) I've added the new group policys for the defenders GPOs but they dont seem to appear applied to the machines. 1. Is AV installed on this box (We do not use SCCM) 2. If not, how do i get AV on the box.  If we turn on defender for cloud , does that install the AV ?

    AV is not supported on Server 2008R2. Legacy System Centre Endpoint Protection (SCEP) is needed to install AV to these Servers 2008R2. Server 2012R2 and above can use the Next Generation Protection Antivirus.
