Applying ASR exclusions

When I update an existing ASR exclusion policy or create and assign a new policy in Intune, how can I force a client to synchronize the updated/new policy? I believe these policies can be applied in the same fashion as any Intune policy, Company Portal app > Settings > Sync, Settings > Accounts > Work or School > Info > Sync, or push a sync from Intune portal, but I'm looking for confirmation.


If you cannot or do not force a sync, then how frequently are they applied to an endpoint?

From device you can force sync from work or school account. but from portal you have nothing more to do then applying policy to that individual group . the policy will enforce automatically once the device comes to internet . the required time will be determined by the portal and its non changeable .
