Microsoft Azure includes many cost features that can help an independent software vendor (ISV) with Cost Management on Azure.  In this video, we present your options and features.

Although we're presenting this in an ISV context, we aren't talking about any ISV-only features.

This video includes an English closed-captioning, and is best viewed full-screen.

Please let us know in the comments what you think, and if you have questions!  Also, this is one of a set of ISV-oriented Azure videos.  If you have an ISV-specific topic that you feel would be good for a 15-20 minute video or a small set of them, let us know... we already have already posted a set around logging and monitoring and multitenant AKS for example.  The "ISV 1:Many" tag has all of our video posts.

Also, we'd love it if you spent 60 seconds submitting feedback about these videos!  It really counts!

    Hi Halaa Menasy

This video is spot on - please also mention that there are free tools out there to help give the business users access to see their costs - tools like (external link removed by moderator)

The reality is that CIOs/CFOs/Project Managers do not log in to the Azure Portal.

  • rodneyjoyce thanks for your positive feedback!

With respect to your statement about who uses the Azure Portal for this type of work, this depends somewhat on the customer in our (FastTrack for Azure for ISVs and Startups) experience.  At smaller ISVs, and at large ISVs with small, dedicated project teams, it's not that unusual for someone acting as a project manager or even CFO to be logging in to the Azure Portal for billing review and management.  I was on two calls yesterday with customers in this situation, where in both cases the responsible person (both organizations had a staff too small to have a dedicated CFO role, but of course someone has to pay the bills 🙂) was using the Azure Portal's tools for this analysis.

This particular video was by design focusing on the "in box" tools available on the platform, which is why it doesn't get into third-party billing analysis tools.  However, there's definitely multiple partners out there that can integrate with the Azure platform from a cost management and governance viewpoint, including our friends at CloudMonitor.
