As a part of our continuing march to Exchange Web Service (EWS) deprecation in Exchange Online (see Exchange Online EWS, Your Time is Almost Up | Microsoft Community Hub) - the Microsoft Graph Team announced another milestone in enabling developers to efficiently manage, migrate, and integrate mailbox data in Exchange Online through Microsoft Graph:

If you develop applications that access mailbox data, you might be very interested in that. Please see the post for more details on current scope and production expectations.

Nino_Bilic thank you for this update. Could you please clarify if it is a supported scenario, when we use exportItems Graph API call in EXO and pass the result to UploadItems in EWS in a self-hosted Exchange? Thank you.

Sorry to say - I am not certain of this; I do not know / understand supportability of things on the API level. You'll need to seek this answer on developer side of things, I'm afraid. I do know that we are not deprecating EWS on Exchange Server.

This really needs to support archive mailboxes, group mailboxes, and public folders. If you’re going to take away EWS and not provide another method of migrating data, that’s just crazy.
