Hi, I'm Jeewan Kumar Bhatta, a Microsoft Student Ambassador and a final-year Computer Science student. Alongside my studies, I work as a Security Research Analyst at Vairav Technology, where I merge my passion for cybersecurity with hands-on experience in the field.

If so, becoming a Microsoft Student Ambassador might be the perfect opportunity for you. The Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program is designed for students who are passionate about tech and want to empower others through education and mentorship.

 

In this blog, we’ll explore everything you need to know about becoming a Microsoft Student Ambassador — from understanding what the role entails, to the benefits that come with it, and the steps you need to take to join this vibrant global community. Whether you’re looking to boost your resume, expand your network, or simply make a difference, this guide will help you navigate your way to becoming a Microsoft Student Ambassador.

 

The Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program is a global community of passionate students who collaborate, learn, and lead in their local tech communities. It empowers students to develop technical and leadership skills by engaging in AI-driven projects, writing blogs, creating video tutorials, and organizing workshops. The program seeks individuals who are community influencers, tech enthusiasts, and agents of change, offering them the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. With a diverse and inclusive community, this program stands out as a leading platform for students to make a positive impact and shape the future, supported by a vibrant network of peers and resources.

 

To embark on this exciting tech journey, make sure you meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • You should be enrolled as a full-time student in an credited academic institution.
  • You cannot be a current Microsoft employee or contractor.

 

If you meet these criteria, you’re ready to start your journey as a Microsoft Student Ambassador! Now, lets head towards the application process:

  • Click here to apply for the student ambassador role.
  • Login with your Microsoft Account with which you want to apply.
  • Fill in your personal, academic and social media details. Don’t forget to check the “Privacy and Terms” checkbox!
  • Then you can track your application process at “Application Status” tab.

  • Keep an eye on your inbox for an invite to join the Microsoft Student Developer Community on Discord within a few days with your unique Contributor ID.
  • Join the Discord server to complete other requirements.

i. Go to the “Start Here” and “FAQ” channels and follow the instructions provided. You will be expected to link your Discord account to your GitHub account

ii. Join and complete Technical Training.

iii. Choose either of the three paths: Community Influencer, Community Builder, or Startup Advocate, then complete the tasks required for each path using your assigned Contributor ID.

iv. Be sure to visit all channels on the server so that you do not miss any information.

v. Your progress to the numbers expected from you will be sent to your registered email periodically by one of the Program Managers.

vi. When you meet all the requirements, you will receive an official invitation through email to join the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program on Microsoft Teams.

  • Accept your invite and join as an Alpha Ambassador with your benefits activated.

 

The Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors Program features three key milestones: Alpha, Beta, and Gold.

As you advance through these milestones, you unlock greater benefits and opportunities.

 

  • Alpha Milestone: Complete a learning path on Microsoft Learn within 60 days to unlock Azure credits, a Visual Studio subscription, a certification voucher. Alpha Ambassadors are onboarded quarterly, and this milestone may be retired in 2025.
  • Beta Milestone: Host an event or participate in an AI project within your community to earn the Beta badge. This unlocks exclusive swag, access to the MLSA Summit, and event support.
  • Gold Milestone: Achieve the highest milestone by going above and beyond in serving your community. This prestigious level offers opportunities to become a Regional Leader, access exclusive events, and potentially join the Microsoft MVP program.

As a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, you’ll enjoy a range of exciting perks. These include $150 in monthly Azure credits, access to Visual Studio Enterprise, a free M365 subscription, and exclusive swag packs. These benefits not only support your learning and projects but also enhance your experience in the program, helping you grow both individually and careerwise.
