We are thrilled to announce that the Immersive Reader has fully rolled out to four additional Microsoft apps and services, including Outlook Desktop, Teams mobile, SharePoint and OneDrive.  This set of updates that bring this inclusive reading tool to even more places!

Outlook Desktop

Everyone can use a little extra help in reading email, and that is why we’ve added an option to turn on the Immersive Reader in Outlook Desktop.  Whether you use all of the features, or just the read aloud, Outlook Immersive Reader can help you be more productive on a daily basis.  This update has fully rolled out to Office 365 Current Channel customers, and will move into the Semi-Annual and Annual channels later this year.

Teams mobile (iOS and Android)

One of the top customer requests for Teams mobile has been to add the Immersive Reader. Teams iOS and Android have become incredibly popular with students over the past year, and we’ve now added Immersive reader for Posts and Chats, making it easily to inclusively access content on a phone or tablet. This has rolled out 100% globally, so make sure to update your Teams mobile app!

SharePoint Pages

Another area we’ve heard customer feedback from is making SharePoint pages more accessible with the Immersive Reader. Last fall, we did an internal hackathon to prototype this, and today we are excited to announce that Immersive Reader for SharePoint Pages has rolled out globally to all commercial and education tenants. An example of this integration is below.

OneDrive for documents and text files

OneDrive is a great place to store and access documents and other content. To enable better access to content, we’re adding the Immersive Reader directly into the OneDrive menus to launch it on Word documents and text files. This updated has now finished rolling out globally to OneDrive users

We hope you enjoy these inclusive and accessible updates where we’ve added the Immersive Reader to Microsoft products!
