Hey y'all, Mark, Tom and Hilde back for another mailbag. Astute readers and or those that have access to a calendar will notice we may have missed a week in our regular posting schedule. I'm not one to point fingers but I will say that Tom was supposed to send over his questions before he left for vacation. You'll be able to read those questions in Issue #9 or whenever Tom sends them over, whichever comes first. In his defense I also got "busy" with "customers" and didn't have much ready to go. So we missed a week, it will probably happen again. On to this week's questions.

Question
I'm doing an AD upgrade from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2. My DFL/FFL is at 2008 R2. My Sysvol is still being replicated using FRS. When I get to 2012 R2 does my Sysvol automatically convert to DFS-R?
Answer
Nope nothing automatically. You would still need to go through the normal process. Ned Pyle wrote about this many moons ago and can be found here . If you are running at 2008 R2 DFL and are going through the migration before make sure you check out Greg's guide with some useful updates.
Question
I want to monitor my ADFS 3.0 environment and I can only find the SCOM mgmt pack for ADFS 2.0, is there something newer?
Answer
Yep, you can grab the ADFS 3.0 mgmt pack here . If you have Azure AD Premium you can also check out the snazzy new Azure AD Connect Health . It has all kinds of pretty graphs that managers like.
Question
I'm confused about connecting VMs in Azure via Cloud Services and/or Virtual Networks so they can easily communicate. Where can I find some clarifying information?
