Hi,

I am using Microsoft Remote Desktop Mac client ( https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id1295203466?mt=12 ) everyday to connect to remote app hosted on Windows servers.

I upgraded to 10.8.0 this morning and the app does not connect anymore. It throws error code 0x3000064

It fails both when using imported RDP file, and when using Workspace connection.

OS: MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

Regards,

Aurélien

I updated it last night and have the same issue. Was connected minutes before executing the update. After the update I cannot connect in any way. I'm getting Error code: 0x300005b when executing a workspace connection. Also, I'm getting Error code: 0x3000064 when executing a downloaded RDP file. None of my connections are working.

I updated mine yesterday and can't get it to connect as well. I get Error code: 0x204 when trying to connect to one of my established connections (which I was also using hours before updating).

I have a same problem.

I can't work !!!

Do you have a solution ? It's urgent

We couldn't connect to the remote PC. Make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.

Error code: 0x204

I had the same problem before updating on Mac,iPad,iPhone. When I disabled mobile data it throws an error. Active mobile data, RD client works. Mobile data has no effect on Android devices. It's terribly annoying that it doesn't work well on Apple products.

Hi,

We have the same problem in our company (error code 0x300006c). The only solution that I found is there: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/azure-virtual-desktop-feedback/you-ve-broken-the-ability-to-c...

I tried with version 10.7.9 and it works.

Same issue with 10.8.0 here, good it's the holidays soon because i need MRD for home office.

Error code changes from time to time from 0x3000064 to 0x300006c for no obvious reason.

Please fix soon. Thank you.

Hi @aureliendcsystems @RonK77 @Flips2145 @Roman_Mondek @Christopher_HUOT-SOUDA ,

Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this issue. Can you please confirm which type of host you are remotely connecting to? Whether that is: Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, a personal PC running Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1.

In the meantime, if your issue is specific to version 10.8.0 please download the most recent stable beta build at aka.ms/rdmacbeta (10.7.9) to continue your productivity while our team tracks down this issue. Thanks

Hello @js351. I want to connect from a device (Mac, iPhone, iPad) using the RD Client to a PC with Windows 10.
When mobile data is enabled on iPhone, remote desktop works, then I disable the data, remote desktop doesn't work, It throws an error. On an Android phone, remote desktop works even when mobile data is not active. We cannot connect via Mac and iPad at all. Thank you for the correction. Rome

Microsoft

Thanks @Roman_Mondek for that feedback.

For workspace cases, does refreshing or deleting/readding the workspace resolve the issue? The error codes 0x3000064 and 0x300006c could be the product of various issues so further investigation will be helpful, to help us triage can you please collect some traces. Set the core log level to "Information", then start logging and repro the issue. Please send the logs to rdios@microsoft.com please. Thanks

Hi there,

I am running a windows server 2019 RDS farm.

I tried to delete workspace and subscribe to it again but it did not change anything.

I sent the requested logs to the above email.

Thank you,

Aurélien

I have macOS Ventura 13.0.1 and get Error Code: 0x104. I am trying to connect to a Windows 10 PC on the same network. I also fail to connect to an Azure VM and also get Error Code: 0x104.

Same issue.  Uninstalling McAfee solved the problem.

I need an internet connection to connect to remote desktop, I don't understand why.
Win 10 PC doesn't need it and same Android device.

I also have problems with 10.8.0, connecting over a GlobalProtect VPN to a server with a Gateway.

Normally the gateway will send me an Authenticator prompt (on my phone).

When running 10.8.0, the connection fails as soon as the gateway step is reached.

I have had to restore 10.7.0 and turn off automatic updates on my Mac.

Microsoft

Hi @aureliendcsystems @emoy88 @RBT05 @Roman_Mondek @jazar01 and all,

We have triaged an issue and working on a fix! When connecting to an on-prem deployment gateway, the client by default will try to connect via WebSocket first. If the gateway doesn’t support WebSocket then the client will fall back to using plain https channel. Based on logs from users experiencing these error codes on 10.8.0, the issue seems to be happening during WebSocket connection where the client did not fallback properly to https channel and instead thows the error.

The current options are:

  1. As previously mentioned, download the last stable beta Version 10.7.9 (2011) from here: aka.ms/rdmacbeta (As the app store doesn’t allow you to downgrade)
  2. If you want to stick with 10.8.0 from the Appstore, type this in the Terminal:defaults write com.microsoft.rdc.macos ClientSettings.DisableOnPremWebSocketGateway true.
The setting bypasses the WebSocket connection attempt and simply connect with plain https channels. Note: Performance-wise WebSocket is expected to be faster than https channels. For deployment en-masse, if you can push policies to the managed macs, we would suggest this option (after verifying it works on your mac). However, if these are not managed macs, then we would suggest option (1) and waiting for an official fix to be pushed to the Appstore (likely after the new year).

Thanks

Brass Contributor

Hi John,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I confirm that both options work in my case.

We are continuing to have problems with 10.8.0 on our University campus. The solution proposed today is not working for us. While away from the campus network and connected to the campus network using an always-on GlobalProtect configuration, attempts to connect to any host using its dns name are failing with a 0x204 error, but will connect when using the assigned IP address. They are essentially acting as if the host is turned off. However, attempting to connect to the same host, but with Cisco AnyConnect instead of GlobalProtect, allows us to connect, using DNS or IP address. We've set the defaults spring, with no luck.

Hi @Michael Hendrickson @emoy88 @RBT05 @Roman_Mondek @aureliendcsystems ,

Can you please try out the new beta build for version 10.8.1 at aka.ms/rdmacbeta and let us know if it resolves this issue?

Thanks!

Copper Contributor

@js351 tried this and got this error.

@js351 The problem still exists for us, and I've forwarded traces as requested - including a trace for the 10.7.9 beta release referenced above, which still works correctly in my experience.
