Migrate VM's from Hyper-V 2012r2 to Azure Stack HCI Using VMM

Afternoon,

We are in the process of replacing our Hyper-V 2012r2 cluster with Azure Stack HCI and are looking for some guidance on Migrating the VM's from Hyper-V 2012r2 to Azure Stack HCI.

We are aware of the options to migrate via server 2016 or 2019 then migrate or to Robocopy VHDs and then create new VM's and attach VHDs detailed in this Microsoft Doc https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-stack/hci/deploy/migrate-cluster-new-hardware#migrating-older-vms

However does anyone know of any other options for example is it possible to use System Center Virtual Machine Manager to make this process easier ?

Regards

Hello Jsalmond, are you using SCVMM already? What tools are you currently using? You can do some testing first with the evaluation. You might already know the latest version SCVMM 2022 is already out. You can download at https://info.microsoft.com/ww-landing-system-center-2022.html.

Do you need to migrate without shutting down the VMs?

What I might also do in your situation is to test out exporting the VMs and importing them into Azure Stack HCI? Which version of Azure Stack HCI are you exploring? Windows Server Datacenter or Azure Stack HCI OS or both maybe.
