Issues Creating Application Insights Availability Tests using Terraform - 05/18

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 5/19, 04:38 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 5/9, 23:30 UTC and that during the 10 days that it took to resolve the issue customers would not have been able to create Availability Tests using Terraform.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to a misconfiguration in one of our backend services. A rollback in the service manifest was performed mitigating the issue. 
  • Incident Timeline: 9 days, 5 Hours & 8 minutes - 5/9, 23:30 UTC through 5/19, 04:38 UTC
We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

Root cause has been isolated to a configuration change which was impacting the ability to create Availability Tests using Terraform. To address this issue we are rolling back our changes to the previous configuration. Customers will not be able to create Application Insights Availability Tests using.
