| Anand: | Hello! Thanks for reaching out to Azure Portal Chat. My name is Anand and I'll be helping you today. | 05:58 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | Hi, sorry, I got distracted. | 05:59 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | I was looing for an answer to my connectin issue. | 05:59 PM |
| Anand: | I see you had a chat with my colleague before. Let me check the transcript and get back. | 06:00 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | ok | 06:01 PM |
| Anand: | Okay, so do you see this error "the user account is currently disabled and cannot be used" while trying to connect to your VM? | 06:03 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | yes | 06:03 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | now it's not connecting at all.. | 06:04 PM |
| Anand: | Can you try resetting the password but picking a new username instead of the one you are trying? So for example, if your user is AzureUser try resetting the password but with a username of AzureUser1. This will create a new admin user. From there once you log into the VM you can manually fix the password of the original user and delete the new one. | 06:04 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | ok, i'll try now | 06:05 PM |
| Anand: | Sure, if that doesn't work you may also refer the following discussion on a similar issue and see if it helps: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/35022035/azure-vm-connection-error-the-user-account-is-currently-disabled-and-cannot-be | 06:05 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | the templates are not visible on the VM page. | 06:07 PM |
| Anand: | I didn't get you. Are you creating a VM from template in Azure? | 06:09 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | I am using Azure Lab Services | 06:09 PM |
| Anand: | Hope you have followed the steps as mentioned in the tutorial to save a template virtual machine image to a shared image gallery so that it can be used by others to create labs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/lab-services/how-to-use-shared-image-gallery | 06:13 PM |
| Anand: | https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/36682/image-template-not-working.html | 06:15 PM |
| Joel McKenzie: | Ok, I'll give this a try and get back to you. | 06:17 PM |
| Anand: | Sure, thank you for your time! | 06:17 PM |
| Anand: | I will be closing this chat here, feel free to reach us back if you have any further queries. | 06:18 PM |
| Anand: | Have a great day ahead! |

If you are still experiencing this issue with being able to RDP to your VM, please open a support ticket. Losing RDP is typically an underlying issue with the 'compute' resources and requires investigation for each situation where this is occurring. Please log a support ticket at https://aka.ms/azlabs-support.
Thanks,
Elizabeth
