Azure multi region - Data transfer

We have multi region(One in South central US and other in Australia) Azure set up and I have below questions

1. Is it possible to enable VNET peering between regions and enable data transfer?

2. Or is it better to have global peering and enable data transfer?

Any idea on data transfer costs ?

  • Praneeth1160 you should use Global VNet peering if you are transferring data across the regions i.e US to Australia as it is across the region

    • VNet peering - connecting VNets within the same Azure region
    • Global VNet peering - connecting VNets across Azure regions

Global VNET Peering pricing is based on a zonal structure. For instance, if data is being transferred from a VNET in zone 1 to a VNET in zone 2, customers will incur outbound data transfer rates for zone 1 and inbound data transfer rates for zone 2. while in ur case I see South central US is in Zone one

Zone 1—Australia Central, Australia Central 2, South Central US,

    Zone 2—Australia East, Australia Southeast,
