Device Certification Tips & Tricks: Using the components feature

Microsoft

Interested in making the most of your device certification project? After certifying over 400 IoT devices through the Azure Certified Device portal, we have some tips and tricks that will help you make your devices appear on the Azure Certified Device catalog with as much detail as possible.

This month’s tip is about using the components feature! You can add more information about your IoT device, including details about connectivity, accelerators, sensors, and more, by editing your components. We recommend adding at least one component (the more the better if your device is composed of multiple discrete parts) and providing these details using the Edit button (pictured below).

The details you provide here allow your device to become more discoverable in our Azure Certified Device catalog through the filters and search function, so you’ll want to make sure that you provide as much information as possible.

One way that you can determine if you need to add more information to the components is to double-check your device description in the Marketing details. The technical information that you provide in that text can likely be added to a component!
