Active sync

Hi,

We are using a hybrid enviroment, where the mailboxes are stored on-prem, but the accounts are also synced to M365. We are not allowed to store mails in the cloud because of the Schrems 2.

As we have the accounts in the cloud as well, we think that some mails are stored in the cloud for up to four weeks when we using active sync. So we have disabled active sync for the users. Anyone know if there is any work around on this so that the outlook client on the phone goes directly to on-prem servers instead of through the cloud and then to on-prem. Or better yet if that's really the case that some mails are stored in the cloud for a short time.

Thanks!

    Hi notrace,
Unless you have moved those mailboxes to Exchange Online, I think there shouldn't be any mail stored in cloud. Accounts may be synced, but that does not mean that they automatically have a mailbox. Using ActiveSync, the client should be directed to the on-prem servers unless migrated.
