Today, we are excited to announce the public preview of Azure Local workload management in Azure Arc Site Manager. As Azure Local deployments grow across multiple sites, operators need a simpler way to monitor and manage workloads from a centralized location. Operators with multiple Azure Local instances deployed across different locations can now view and manage virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters from a single, centralized experience.
Azure Arc Site Manager addresses fleet management at scale for edge infrastructure, providing a unified platform to organize, monitor, configure, and operate distributed environments. By organizing resources into Sites that reflect physical locations, such as datacenters, factories, retail stores, or branch offices, Site Manager lets operators manage resources in the context of where they actually run.
Centralized visibility across your entire estate
Azure Arc Site Manager now provides a unified view of Azure Local virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters, so operators can see workload information and take action from one place organized around the Sites they already use, instead of stitching together views across resource groups, subscriptions, and individual Azure Local instances.
Each workload is listed with operational details, so status and other key information are visible at a glance without opening resources one at a time. When a location reports a problem, an operator can open that Site and see immediately which workloads are healthy and which need attention, turning a question like "what is running at this location, and is any of it down?" into a single view rather than a series of lookups.
Improve operational efficiency with bulk actions
Operators can act on multiple workloads in a single gesture instead of repeating the same task one resource at a time. Virtual machines support bulk start, restart, stop, pause, save, and delete, and Kubernetes clusters can be deleted in bulk as well.
This turns routine work into a single operation, whether that is bringing a Site back online after planned maintenance, stopping a set of VMs at the end of a work week, or decommissioning workloads at a location that is being retired.
Quickly find and organize workloads
Site Manager lets administrators shape the workload view around how they operate. Group virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters by attributes like the Azure Local instance they run on. From there, filter or search by name to get to a specific workload in seconds. Grouping, filtering, and search all work together, so you can narrow a long list down to what you need in a few clicks.
Getting started
Azure Local workload management in Azure Arc Site Manager is available in public preview.
To learn more about Azure Arc Site Manager, see the Azure Arc Site Manager documentation.
To get started, open Azure Arc Site Manager in the Azure portal, select your Azure Arc Site, and then select the Azure Local resources (preview) tab.
This is a preview, and your input shapes what comes next. Use the Give feedback option in Site Manager to tell us what is working and what you would like to see added.
