Since Microsoft Search in Bing was announced at Microsoft Ignite 2018, we have had overwhelming interest from companies who are interested in the search offering and want to enable the product for their tenant.
Our first Webcast had a good turnout, which covered an introduction of Microsoft Search in Bing and detailed how to enable the service on an Office 365 tenant in only a few minutes. Thanks to the highly active group who had an active discussion. The webcast recording and a summary of the most requested questions are listed below:
Q: What is the advantage of Microsoft Search in Bing and how is my enterprise data secure?
A: MSiB is one of the first available entry points, that will eventually encompass other Office 365 products. Refer to the security document on how security is our key priority and how your data is secure from public information.
Q: How do admins & editors access the admin portal once MSiB is enabled?
A: Visit https://aka.ms/MicrosoftSearchinBing and click on Admin login on the top right of the screen.
Q: How do I limit user access to MSiB during initial testing?
A: Login into the admin portal, click on "Users & permissions" add the "Preview users". By default, everyone on the tenant has access to MSiB.
Q: When will MSiB be eligible in other countries/regions?
A: Once the tenant is enabled for MSiB, there are no restrictions for the user location. We are working on expanding the availability of MSiB. Please refer to the MSiB requirements page and we will update the availability on this page.
Q: Does MSiB have any dependency or interaction with the Microsoft Graph?
A: Yes, MSiB leverages information in Microsoft Graph to surface relevant search results.
Q: When is search integration into Dynamics or Power Platform coming?
A: A connector platform is being built to support 1st party and 3rd party sources. We will have more information early 2019.
Q: Do suggested bookmarks get added over time based on user search activity?
A: A default of suggested bookmarks are included when the tenant is first enabled for MSiB. Users can also suggest bookmarks.
Q: I don't see the ability choose a Power App Environment, is that planned?
A: You can find more details on the Integrate PowerApps page. Currently, we only support the default Power Apps environment.
