Consumer Adoption vs Enterprise Adoption

MVP

This April the Microsoft Techcommunity has an important theme about User Adoption. For a great overview on adoption see @Anna Chu's post.  For this month's topic, I wanted to explore the much discussed difference between adoption of consumer products and the experience many of us have seen in enterprise products.  In this blogpost, I discussed the difference between the two approaches to adoption.  The big advantage consumer solutions have is a larger market to attack, a lack of concern for anything other than their platform economics and fewer issues with culture and other enterprise systems impacting performance.  For example, gamification activities may work well in consumer adoption, but if they aren't integrated to other performance expectations in an organisation they can be at best a nuisance and at worst a distraction from important organisational performance processes.

What other differences have you seen between enterprise and consumer adoption efforts and results?
