Why do we need Arc for hotpatching?? I need to run it on systems completely disconnected from the Internet.
Hi. Arc is used for licensing of the Hotpatch service. Machines will not need to be continuously connected to the Internet, but they will need to be at least once within 30 days.
- This should be included with Software Assurance. Large enterprises are already paying by the month. Where is the value if new features continue to be additional line items on an invoice?
- This renders this feature unavailable to the only mission critical servers where patching without a reboot would be worth paying extra for the privilege.

- Unavailable. If we have to have an Internet connection to use this feature, this feature is not useful to our mission critical servers. The servers which are less critical and have Internet access are not worth paying a subscription to avoid a reboot.
- Unfortunately, that won't work either - those machines should never connect to the Internet. Why can't we solve licensing just by signing a contract?
- That may be possible in the future - similar to ESU - but will not be for the initial release.
