Hotpatching is available today if you're using Windows Server 2022 Azure Edition in Azure or on-premises with Azure Stack HCI. Starting with Windows Server 2025, we are introducing Arc-enabled hotpatching, so you have the option to enable hotpatching on Windows Server 2025 Standard/Datacenter edition for a monthly subscription running anywhere such as physical, virtual, or other clouds. Hotpatching will continue to be included at no additional charge if you use Windows Server 2025 Azure Edition in Azure or on-premises with Azure Stack HCI.

Hotpatching is currently only available on Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Azure Edition VMs available on Azure cloud and guest VMs on Azure Stack HCI. Plan in place to bring it to Azure Arc connected Windows Server 2025 on-prem and other clouds.
