this is only necessary for (shared) SAN, Storage Spaces (local storage) / Storage Spaces Direct (local shared storage HCI) support NVMe already with extreme performance, even improving with Windows Server 2025 new NVMe drivers and further optimizations as displayed the linked snipped.

Hear you Cem. But RDMA is something planned for Microsoft NVMe over Fabric, as stated in the video snipped linked above. NVMe-OF with or without RDMA (cherry on top when ready) it will leverage TCP. Whether it will use UDP (IWARP) at all wasn't said. I personally doubt it due to the constraints of NIC hardware still supporting iWARP today. Mind UDP is not generally faster than TCP. Speaking about S2D Microsoft currently favours RoCEv2 with Mellanox Cx5/Cx6 being one of the best NICs available (from my experience).
