Hello! Great session! I was wondering if anyone from Microsoft would have any insight / advice into an issue that we've been experiencing with Windows Server Management enabled by Azure Arc. We have Software Assurance for our Windows Server licensing and have been using this feature since its announcement at Ignite in November. At first, it was behaving as expected and the benefits were included but then for some reason specifically in January 2025 and March 2025, we got billed for Azure Update Manager Basic even on servers that had the benefits activated. Strangely enough, under the invoice we saw the following line items under an Arc Resource with the benefits activated:
Azure Update Manager - BasicAzure Arc - Azure Arc Enabled Servers (VMs)
Azure Arc - WS Std Assurance Benefits
Azure Update Manager - Complementary benefits
For some reason, it was charging us inconsistently for certain resources even though it detected the benefit activated. We have had an ongoing ticket with Azure support and after about a month we finally got them to understand the issue and confirm there was a system error but haven't heard anything other than that. We have some other organizations that we work with that experienced the same issue. My question is, is this a known issue / has Microsoft seen this issue before?
Thanks!
Thank you thomasmaurer and Aurnov_Chattopadhyay for the Great session π

Interesting. So, if Workgroup servers can be added to ARC, is there a way to manage server access through Entra rather than an on-prem domain? For example, with the use of a file server and shares?

Not today, but something we are definitely looking into
