What are some ways you encourage user engagement?
- LeeTBGJun 20, 2023Copper ContributorThere are a number of reasons why engagement may be a challenge, but typically it centres around understanding and education. In relation to using OKRs, it is important to: - Have a robust change story and comms to your people as to why you are using OKRs - Showcase the individual and collective benefits that will be gained - Remove the scare factor and ensure everyone is comfortable with the basic mechanics and how your company will use them, including having internal coaches to lean on when needed - Reassure your people that this isnt a performance management tool to beat people with for missing targets, instead a way to empower them With regards to Viva Goals, some key considerations: - People often become comfortable with their existing ways of working, and a new tool may feel like they have to start learning again. Make sure that everyone has the same introduction and education on how to use the tool. - Again, showcase the individual and collective benefits of why you are going to be using the tool. - Have an expert for people to lean on when they are unsure This will cover some of the typical ways to help overcome engagement issues, but of course, there are others, we have seen them ALL! We find when an OKR initiative and Viva Goals are rolled out in a pragmatic way, we identify any issues very early on where they are easiest to resolve. This ensures that there is enthusiasm and engagement from the start. Please reach out to me or any of the TBG team if there is a particular challenge and we can have a chat
