    I understand the need to protect corporate assets and resources, but this looks an awful lot like Microsoft is now marketing the great firewall of China as a "new" Entra feature. As this scales up and out, I can see this being weaponized to control the internet access of specific groups of people deemed a "threat" simply because of differing views, politics, beliefs, etc. This is quite possibly the most frightening piece of "innovation" to come from Microsoft to date.

      Microsoft Entra Internet Access is an identity-centric Secure Web Gateway (SWG) for SaaS apps and internet traffic that protects against malicious internet traffic, unsafe or non-compliant content, and other threats from the open internet. Customers have full control over what traffic is routed through the service which is designed to enable organizations to provide security controls for their users, devices and data and is an evolution of traditional on-prem security controls.

      Surely, this only applies to someone using their work identity for such purposes, in which case, this may be seen as a positive to businesses to reduce the risks associated with their identities being used for purposes not sanctioned or supported by the business. Furthermore, if a politically-motivated actor within a business attempts to exfiltrate potentially-sensitive data that furthers his/her cause, it is acceptable for businesses to wish to limit their ability to exfiltrate such data.

        Understood, but the comment that this will be integrated into Windows 11 going forward indicates they intend to expand this level of control beyond simple work identities.
