- Allan OscarsonBrass ContributorWhat will happen to embedded feeds outside M365? Will all those need to be changed?
- MichaelHolste
Microsoft
When we make URL and embed updates, we'll provide notice. It's our goal to preserve links and make auto redirects so that nothing breaks.
- ShaneZammitCopper ContributorAny update on how Live Events will work in Viva Engage in the future, it would be good to see other options such as regular Teams call integrated.

This article covers how the Live Event experience is evolving, including the deprecation of Stream. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/yammer/manage-yammer-groups/yammer-live-events
We're looking at ways to bring these event capabilities to all Teams meetings - can you be more specific on what you're looking for?
Today, you can also add a Q&A experience to any Teams meeting. That info can be found here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-blog/teams-q-amp-a-is-now-generally-available/ba-p/3577124
- ShaneZammitCopper ContributorCurrently, you can only use Teams Live events via app or an encoder can be used. Not all events require a broadcast style, nor do they have people who are comfortable with the producer role. Integrating the ability to have regular Teams calls alongside Teams live would be a big plus.
- Nathan_AhlstromCopper ContributorWill the legacy Yammer API continue to function as this change is rolled out? We are using it extensively. Thank you!
- PaayalarunashokCopper ContributorI have the same question. I also realise a bit of discrepancy in the data with the Yammer export API and the Yammer network admin center reports? Are there any efforts/plan to fix the Yammer export API to showcase the data similar to the Yammer network admin center reports?
- BrentMarsonCopper ContributorAnd will the API be formally supported?
- Allan OscarsonBrass ContributorWill we have to take action to make the Yammer desktop app (PWA) continue to work?
- Ravin Sachdeva
Microsoft
This is a great question, Allan. The PWA app for Yammer would be rebranded as well. We are currently validating if that would be done automatically or if there is a need for users to make the change. As soon as we have an answer to that one we'll post an update. We'll try our best to have this change done automatically so there's no effort need from the users.- Nathalie SchiltzBrass ContributorHi - any update ? Desktop (PWA) rebrand is planned by End June and URL renaming will come by End of Year, we are preparing the user communication for our organisation, should we inform them about any need to reinstall desktop PWA app ? or will it be automatic as for mobile app rebranding ?
- Julie-tmfBrass ContributorI have a colleague in Argentina who has her Yammer app preference set to Spanish but her client (for Teams / Outlook) set up in English. When she tries to use Viva Engage in MS Teams, it inherits the English setting, not the preference set-up in the Yammer app (Spanish). Will this always be an issue, or are there plans to address this in the future?
- danholme
Microsoft
It would seem the right behavior for apps in Teams to inherit the Teams locale. Why do you want different behavior in a specific app? That would help us understand how to solve... Please click the SETTINGS (...) in the upper-right of Viva Engage, PROVIDE FEEDBACK, and REPORT A PROBLEM. That will get your feedback to the right engineers. Thank you!!!- Julie-tmfBrass ContributorI will do Dan - thank you
- Christian RahmeCopper ContributorHi, we have a couple of questions regarding the re-branding of Yammer: How long will last the redirect of old yammer url to the new ones Is there a way to get a report of the caller links to update the link at the source Will we be able to customize the banners: Branding / Text / Multiple Language Will we be able to decide when the banner will appear ?Will the banner support multiple language ? Based on ?Are the UI/UX amelioration planned to rollout in summer will also be implemented to the mobile app in March ? Do you have a documentation so we can prepare our training documentation ?Will the integration with other product (SharePoint, Power Platform, Outlook...) be affected by the rebranding/change of urls ?
- Ravin Sachdeva
Microsoft
Thanks for your questions, Christian. I'll try to answer them individually below.
How long will last the redirect of old yammer url to the new ones
We will work out a url redirection schema for Yammer.com urls when we rebrand to Viva Engage to make sure the Yammer links will work as expected in Viva Engage, so you don't need to worry about updating your links when we rebrand.
Is there a way to get a report of the caller links to update the link at the source
Not quite sure I understand this question. Could you please elaborate on this a bit, on what you're looking to see in this report?
Will we be able to customize the banners: Branding / Text / Multiple Language Will we be able to decide when the banner will appear ?Will the banner support multiple language ? Based on ?
At this time, you would not be able to customize the rebranding banners that appear in the product. The banner will be triggered automatically as we start rolling out the rebranding changes. The banners and any documentation would be available in multiple languages, based on what the language the user has selected for themselves.
Are the UI/UX amelioration planned to rollout in summer will also be implemented to the mobile app in March ?
Yammer mobile apps would also be rebranded to Viva Engage. The mobile apps get rebranded in March and you will be able to find it in the app stores under the new Viva Engage name and also by searching for Yammer. Over time we will be bringing the Viva Engage look and feel to the UX for the mobile apps as well, just like we will be doing for the Yammer web experience.
Do you have a documentation so we can prepare our training documentation ?
Yes, you will be able to find all the latest and updated documentation on support.microsoft.com.
Will the integration with other product (SharePoint, Power Platform, Outlook...) be affected by the rebranding/change of urls ?
Yes, all of Yammer and associated experiences across SharePoint, Outlook, etc. will be rebranded to Viva Engage. Please refer to this blog for more: Yammer is evolving to Microsoft Viva Engage | Microsoft 365 Blog
- AlexisParratteOccasional ReaderThank you ravin for your answer, about the report, I wanted to know if we could get a report of the client (source) calling the old urls so that we can advise the owner of the page/document to update their links to the new urls
- MichelleLegaultOccasional ReaderThe messaging I've seen about the new features (like AMAs and Leadership Corner) imply that everyone will get these features without an added cost. However, when I look at the features on the Viva Engage page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-viva/engage#features it looks like the basic things we've had with Yammer for a while are "free" and the cool new features have an added cost. Am I reading this correctly?
- danholme
Microsoft
Viva Engage is the new name and experience for Yammer. All the features you know from Yammer remain available for all M365 customers. See https://danholme.substack.com/p/yammer-is-engaged-get-to-know-viva for details. Last week, we just introduced new features available for Microsoft Viva customers: https://danholme.substack.com/p/viva-engage-features-for-leaders Let us know where you're seeing messaging that implies these particular features are without additional cost.- MichelleLegaultOccasional Reader
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/engage/setup "If a user is enabled for Yammer, they are also enabled to use Viva Engage. Viva Engage is included as a part of the existing Yammer license. This is unchanged from the Yammer Communities app for Microsoft Teams that Viva Engage replaces." Nothing about a separate cost for the new features.
Roadmap entry for the AMAs https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?featureid=117499 "All users can create moderated Q&A events from their storyline page. AMAs include question upvoting & sorting, best answer, and optional anonymous submission."
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-viva-blog/announcing-microsoft-viva-engage/ba-p/3571382 "Viva Engage is part of the Microsoft Viva suite for employee experience. Viva Engage will be available to all current Microsoft 365 commercial customers at no additional charge. Users must have a Yammer license to use the app." Although this mentions the Viva Suite, pieces of it are available as part of other licenses, and the mention of 'no additional charge,' to me, implies that there should be no additional charge for any part of it. I've basically seen "Viva Engage is included for people who have Yammer" repeatedly but the extra costs are left out.
- Hughes818Iron ContributorWill the guest access be improved with the rebranding? Based on what I saw from the admin settings, it looks like it is either on or off for ALL communities (all or nothing). I didn't see any community specific settings where a community admin could decide if a community should allow guests or not. Due to that, we have not been able to enable the guest access feature for Yammer yet because some communities are going to be internally sensitive. The Sensitivity Labels for Containers also don't apply to Yammer Communities...so there are definitely some gaps.
- Sandra_Vargas
Microsoft
Hi Jason. We do not currently have per community settings. It would be great to follow up and better understand what you are trying to support. Is it just a default with employees being able to switch the setting or only certain people able to change the setting etc.- Hughes818Iron Contributor
Thank you for your reply. I think it is just a matter of being able to utilize Yammer/Viva Engage for both internal and external purposes. Intneral purposes implies that the discussions are going to be sensitive. External purposes might mean a community for a partner, vendor, supplier, etc. So, with internal communities, we would not want guests to be allowed at all. With external communities, partners, vendors, etc. would become guests of the community. So, without "per community settings", that will not be feasible. Another thing related to this problem is the fact that "Private" communities are still visible from the "All Communities" list. So, it should probably also be a "per community setting" for a community admin to decide if a "Private" community is visible for others to ask to join OR completely hidden so the community admin can explicity invite users to join. There are scenarios like that where the user experience of Yammer is a better fit than Teams...but that's not possible right now. Dynamic Group membership also doesn't really solve that problem.
- Leland UsherBrass ContributorWhat is the best way to get started with Viva Engage, has it been released yet?
- jamestyer
Microsoft
Hi Leland. We have some great resources to help you get started from our technical documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/yammer/ and our adoption centres: - https://adoption.microsoft.com/en-us/yammer/ - https://adoption.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/engage/ Viva Engage is the name under which we are rebranding all things Yammer, so you can learn from all Yammer as well as Viva Engage materials. For more information on our rebrand, take a look here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/yammer-blog/yammer-is-evolving-to-viva-engage/ba-p/3738825- Leland UsherBrass ContributorThank you Tyler, I saw the video here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/engage/overview but did not go further down the page yet. I appreciate your response.
- cgreen1Iron ContributorIn order to use the Leadership Corner and AMA features in Viva Engage, do we just need to license the leaders themselves, or does everyone need a Viva Suite license? We have mostly all E3 licenses currently.
- fernandomartinezovelar
Microsoft
Hi Christine, each user needs a license to get access to Leadership Corner. Similarly, users who do not have a license cannot "attend" an AMA event.
