For Learning: Is a paid account required for end-users to receive recommendations from a paid user? Are we going to be able to customize content such as course descriptions and images?

MicrosoftA paid account is required to make a recommendation, but it is not required to receive a recommendation. Course description and images can be customized on the platform where they are hosted. For LMS hosted content, you can update those details via your LMS. For SharePoint hosted content, you can update those details from the SharePoint library where the items are stored.
John_Mighell is there a documentation about creating columns for describtion, imags etc. for SharePoint Online as well as information to start indexing new learning content from sharepoint?

Thanks John_Mighell I already tested this and this works pretty fine in sites that are based on a german template. With sites in english template the description column is there by default and via the GUI un-deletable.
In addition to that, do you have further informations about thumbnails or metadata columns like duration, learning ?
