When is search going to get better refiners? We had to take a big step backwards from what we had in 2013. File type and last modified doesn't cut it for users. We do annual surveys of our intranet and search is always one of the largest complaints since moving to SPO. Refiners, scoping, proper ranking - all some of the top issues that contribute to users wishing our intranet "could be more like google"...i know, I hate hearing it too 🙂

We took a look at pnp-modern search but had some challenges getting the interface to look good. Refiners listed all file types instead of just a finite list. The on-premise refiner experience was soo much better than online would be nice if they could add this capability to modern search. We should not have to use a custom solution to get something that previously existed in on-premise IMO.
- KasperLarsenJul 27, 2022Iron ContributorI am using PnP Modern search web part on a daily basis and once I got used to handlebars ( and now Adaptive Cards) I find the PnP version way better than the out of the search web parts from SP2013. Re the refiners listing all file types, that sound like you either should update the the search query or that you expect some kind of grouping of file type ?
