When is search going to get better refiners? We had to take a big step backwards from what we had in 2013. File type and last modified doesn't cut it for users. We do annual surveys of our intranet and search is always one of the largest complaints since moving to SPO. Refiners, scoping, proper ranking - all some of the top issues that contribute to users wishing our intranet "could be more like google"...i know, I hate hearing it too 🙂
For what it's worth, we were on Google Search Appliance for several years while that was a product.....and we had people telling us it should be "more like Google", too!

Hey Dan and Charles, we are currently working on implementing some out of the box refiners to help users discover more easily their personal content, or content from other users, improving the content source filter, as well as to give options for sorting. I do not have an exact ETA for these. In the meantime, we have the custom filters feature available in the admin panel. Would help to hear more from both of you on some specific pain points that end users are facing when it comes to filtering and scoping.- Would be happy to have a discussion sometime if you would be open to it. I can show you real world examples and feedback from a broad user-base. We have recently been doing some usability studies so it would be very timely. PM me if you want to get something setup!
