Storage Migration Service - Cutover execution failed

I haven't touched the domain controllers in all this. All our DC's are at Server 2019.
Just had a window open up to try the migration again.
After troubleshooting/updating several items finally resorted to manually renaming the servers after letting SMS transfer the files and shares.
renamed source file server (appended "old" to the name)
changed source IP address to different/new IP address.
rebooted and made sure DNS record reflected IP correctly.
renamed destination server to original source name.
changed destination server to original source IP address.
rebooted and made sure DNS record reflected IP correctly.
After this, users didn't have any issues accessing their shares without rebooting or remapping!
