package ssu and online windows update service

Hi,

i've a new installation, i update online Windows server 2022. the windows update service install the last cumulative package.

 

I don't see previous ssu update installed package are mandatory because it's online update ?

  • When you update Windows Server 2022 using the online Windows Update service, the latest cumulative update package already includes the required Servicing Stack Update (SSU). Starting with recent releases, Microsoft bundles SSU and LCU together, so you won’t see SSU listed separately in the update history.

    This means you don’t need to install SSU manually when using online updates — the cumulative package ensures the servicing stack is up to date before applying the rest of the fixes. Separate SSU installation is only necessary in offline scenarios (e.g., WSUS, SCCM, or manual .msu deployment).

    So in your case, everything is working as expected: the cumulative update you installed already contains the servicing stack update.
