Windows Server 2019 Essentials Trial - product key not working

180day Trial ISO Download here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019-essentials

17763.379.190312-0539.rs5_release_svc_refresh_SERVERESSENTIALS_OEM_x64FRE_en-us.iso

1. Product key NJ3X8-YTJRF-3R9J9-D78MF-4YBP4 -> "We couldn't verify the product key"

2. I don't have a product key -> "Windows cannot find the Software License Terms"

according to https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Windows-Server-for-IT-Pro/Windows-Cannot-find-Microsoft-software-license-terms-During/m-p/164024#M514 we are using no VM, no Floppy, 4GB RAM

    Hi treininghaus,

I tested the same ISO from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019-essentials and it worked fine (both with key and without) on multiple Hyper-V virtual machines.

Did you try re-downloading the ISO? It might be that it got corrupted somehow, also try to mount it from a local drive.

    Best regards,
    Leon

      Leon Laude

re-downloaded and key is accepted now. Both files have same size 4 806 223 872 and sha1 (see below).

Seems the tool to write to the USB or the USB flash drive mangled the bits,

Thank you again for the help.

      Best regards

      Thomas

had to rename the downloaded second file. fciv.exe is not accepting (1) in the file name.

      Hi Leon Laude.

Thank you for the quick test.

I downloaded an iso from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019 and managed to "burn" it to an USB Flash drive. The installation went flawlessly.

I will retry the download of the Server Essentials.

      Best Regards

      Thomas

I did this and it still won't register the trial license. Something I do wrong? What ISO burn program did you use? treininghaus
