RDS Device CALs with Thin Clients

Hello,

I'm looking for guidance on how RDS Device CALs work with thin clients.  My understanding is that the device CAL is saved to the client device in the form of a certificate.  How does that process work with thin clients that have locked storage devices and will lose any changes after a reboot?  I have a mixed environment of Windows Embedded and HP ThinPro thin clients.
