Query related to Windows 10 patch release to support IE mode in Edge browser

We have many customers that are in virtual environments using Citrix or VMWare Horizon. Some customers do not present their employee’s with Windows 10 VDI desktops. For an example 1 customer is on Citrix with 220 branches and 1000+ workstations. Their employee desktops are Windows server 2016 build 1607. Are there any plans to address this after the current Windows 10 and Edge is working or will they be force to upgrade their environment to Windows 10?
