Clarification Regarding msDFSR-Options After Authoritative SYSVOL Synchronization
- Oct 05, 2026
Hello MasPAN74 ,
msDFSR-Options=1 is a temporary flag used solely to enforce authoritative replication and must be manually reset to its default value (0 or unset) once the operation is complete. If left in place permanently, it will permanently lock this DC into the ‘source’ role and lead to abnormal replication behaviour.
The value ‘msDFSR-Options=1’ means ‘mark this member as the authoritative source’ and forces all other members to retrieve the SYSVOL content from this DC. This is intended solely as a temporary remedial measure in a recovery scenario where SYSVOL data is inconsistent.
If the solution helped, would you mark it as solved?
