CAL an d RDCAL

I aqpologize for the very simple question. When a user connects to a Windows Server via Remote Desktop Services does he require a CAL, a RDCAL or both? Where can I locate detailed documentation abo...

    From my experience, when connecting to a windows server vis remote desktop services you need both a window server CAL and an CAL. I ran into this when setting up RDS for a team without the proper RDS CALs, users could connect to the server itself but couldn't start an actual remote session. Once we installed the correct RDS CALs on the license server, everything work smoothly. If you're setting this up, I'd recommend double- checking Microsoft licensing guide because it can get a little tricky.
