Self contained deployment of asp.net core Application

Asp.net Core and legacy versions, there is a differences that new .net 5 / 6 uses self contained deployment.

So we don't need to install .net core runtime on the servers right?

Also let's say some patch lands in future of .net version bundled, do we need to redeploy the application with updated .net core version in it?
