Microsoft Sales Co-pilot promotional emails being sent to all users
Hi Dan,
Thank you for sharing your feedback and raising this! Could you please share more about the settings and policies you've set up in MAC to disable Microsoft communications and switch off Microsoft Sales Copilot?
For context, the email that you're seeing is not a "promotional" email but rather a "transactional" Welcome email that we're sending to users that have the Sales Copilot app installed in Outlook, to provide them with information and resources to get started. That said, the discrepancy you see in the change of spelling from "co-pilot" to "copilot" is noted - we haven't made any changes from our end and we always had the spelling as "copilot". Please note that this is a one-off "Welcome" email that we're sending to users that have our app installed to help them get started and there will be no additional emails sent right now.
Once you're able to share details about your settings/policies in MAC, we can investigate further and get back to you. Hope this helps!
Thanks,
PM, Sales Copilot
Hi, the main setting I am referring to is below which is switched off in our tenant but users still received the emails.
Sales Copilot settings:
In regards to the type of email "promotional" vs "transactional" - Microsoft Support described the email as "promotional". I think frankly as an admin with the above setting turned off, I simply don't want any emails being sent to end users by Microsoft regardless of their type - in this instance it created confusion and unnecessary support requests.
My understanding is Sales Copilot is installed for all users in Outlook with no way to uninstall so when you say "we're sending to users that have the Sales Copilot app installed in Outlook" that is essentially every user in a tenant, regardless of their role or intention to use this feature or not.
- YashLundiaOct 20, 2023Former EmployeeThank you Dan for sharing these details. We've made a note of this and are investigating further to either add a new setting for the Sales Copilot Welcome email or have it abide by the above setting that applies to M365 product emails. We've also made a note of the verbiage in the setting that implies that it applies to all M365 product emails sent to end users & shared feedback with internal stakeholders. Rest assured, as of now, users shouldn't receive any additional emails from Sales Copilot apart from the Welcome email.

Hi YashLundia
It seems newly created users in my environment are receiving an email with the subject “Microsoft Sales Copilot is installed and ready to use”.These users go through onboarding and one of the first things they see in their mailbox is a promotional email from Microsoft Sales Copilot. We have no setting to control if sales copilot is installed for users or not, and these users are not in a sales function or role.
Please can you investigate internally why users are still receiving emails like this? No other Microsoft product groups are sending such emails to users.- YashLundiaNov 09, 2023Former EmployeeHi Dan,
Sincere apologies for the delay in getting back to you. We'd recently made an update to the email and hence you're seeing the new subject "Microsoft Sales Copilot is installed and ready to use".
It seems that the new users that you added to your environment also had the Sales Copilot license & thereby Sales Copilot was installed in Outlook and they therefore got the Welcome Email. Please note that this email is not meant to be a "promotional" email, it is rather a one-time "transactional" Welcome Email that is sent to new users when Sales Copilot is installed to help get started with using the product.
In case you don't want Sales Copilot to be auto-installed for your new users (& thereby users not receiving the Welcome Email), please let me know and I can reach out to you separately to help you with that since we'd need your tenant ID for the same. In the meantime, here's guidance for users to uninstall Sales Copilot in case they wish to do that: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-sales-copilot/install-sales-copilot#uninstall-sales-copilot-outlook-add-in
