Feature request: plan my day the night before
- LucescoMar 25, 2022Copper Contributor
Hi, its 2022. Are you still discussing this feature. I'd like to set my own expiration timeframe for My Day as I also plan my next day the night before. Getting up at 5am and in meetings by 5:30a, this idea that one plans their day in the morning is unrealistic with teams across the world.
- ChielVerMar 02, 2022Copper ContributorHello
Like many others I want to know: why are you not adding a simple Y/N option in the set up like "Keep My Day?" The suggestions stuf is all fine and okay, but I just want to keep things I've added to "my day" until I kick them out - maybe after 2 or 3 days... NOT when Microsoft kicks them out...
Is this really so hard to understand? almost 3 years!!- EricB_11Mar 07, 2022Copper ContributorYes, this is exactly what I'm looking for: Let me set "YES" for My Day for everything I want to keep there until I set it back to NO. That way every day My Day list resets to exactly how I want it, full of my daily reminders.
- dkievetJan 10, 2022Copper ContributorAny progress on this one? Seems like2 years is a long time to discuss something as simple as this.
- MissFlickAug 30, 2021Copper ContributorAny update on this? This is a much needed feature.
- carl_uttingJul 10, 2021Copper ContributorWill this become a feature soon?
- BenutzernameAug 03, 2021Copper ContributorStill waiting for it - would be a great feature for the app!
- petecutterJun 14, 2021Brass ContributorHow is that discussion progressing? I'd at least like to see the option to advance unfinished tasks to 'My Day' for the next business day.

Polly Davidson - Are you guys still talking about this? Or has it fallen off the todo list again.
It is one of those things I find very frustrating. In an ideal world, I want to wake up, turn on my PC, and have To-Do give me a starter to My Day without me having to do anything. So, that might be bits I added the day before expressly for the morning, anything left over undone, plus long term scheduled tasks that are due on that day.
My day should be a neat, unified list of disparate tasks.
Otherwise, I struggle to find a use for it.
I do understand that if I want to add tasks "for tomorrow" I can just schedule them in the normal way (and I think this is why this function has not been added to My Day), but that is cumbersome.
A todo list works best when you can just throw things at it without having to think too much, and then it regurgitates it all at the right moment. ๐
PS - I am rather amused that Microsoft's new Editor addon for Chrome doesn't appear to work on this site!

I'm brand new using Outlook, so I'm trying to learn how to use the task list. The training video for My day seems to indicate we have to do it in the morning. I agree with the other comments. Planning the night before is really a best practice and using the existing due dates also makes tremendous sense. Has there been any movement on this since these posts were made?
- BruceSmith725Jul 06, 2022Copper ContributorAs a workaround until this is available, when you plan your next day, add the desired tasks/actions to 'my day' When you return in the morning, they will at least all be suggested and therefore quicker to add. Not ideal but saves time in the morning.
