Redirect Classic to Stream on SharePoint

I understand that the Stream migration tool will redirect links from Stream Classic to the new Stream location, but I'm not sure on the length of that redirect. Will the redirects work until Stream is fully turned off in Mid Feb next year, or does it only work until we disable access to Stream Classic?
