SQL Mirroring vs Basic AG
I just started in this company, and they have database mirroring configured on their 2016 SQL Server Standard edition.
Will be better to setup basic Availability Group? is there benefit over mirroring since both can be configured for automatic failover and also with basic AG you can only support one database per AG which is similar to mirroring where you can configure it per database. Is it worth the process of configuring basic AG?

You should consider that Database Mirroring will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server so for sure this will be a blocker if you attempt to upgrade.
I was a huge fun on Database Mirroring , it works very well but should consider moving out of discontinued features.
Also consider that there are no more fixes or improvements for it
