Connect sql server on premise from internet with App.Net

Hello,
Is there a way to connect to a local On-Premise server from the Internet using something similar to the gateway used in PowerApps or PowerBI?
In other words, the idea would be to use the Gateway but instead of using PowerApps, it would be to use an own application developed in .Net
