S4B to Teams - enable or migrate?
Hey guys,
I have two questions regarding S4B and Microsoft Teams. I hope it is ok to post this here.
We have a customer who is utilizing S4B OnPrem, but he wants to use Microsoft Teams. They already have a Tenant, but it is not really used. No synchronization yet and no Exchange Online.
Question 1: Would it be a good idea just to disable the users locally and enable them for Teams (after prerequisites are met for AAD Sync and so on)? I guess in best case the S4B server have to be deprovisioned quickly, don't they?
Question 2: If we would head to a migration with Hybrid between S4B and S4B Online (Teams), is it possible to uninstall all S4B servers afterwards, or will there be a Hybrid server left, just like the Hybrid server for Exchange?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
woelki

1) If you don't want to setup an hybrid I guess the process would be that you first disable all Skype users , make sure all Skype attributes are gone in Active Directory, start syncing with AAD and then enable users in Teams. Then you can uninstall Skype servers. I don't recommend this and never tried it since it is easy to setup and hybrid and move users.
2) Yes, you can remove the Skype hybrid after you moved all your users to Teams. You can also remove Exchange servers if you want to, depending on your setup they might be needed.
I would recommend you to setup a hybrid for Skype since you don't need to rush the move of the users and they will be able to keep their contact lists.

Hi Linus,
thanks for the advise. That was exactly my idea. If you say, that the hybrid installation is that easy, I see no reason to do something else.Kind regards,
