Skype for Business Online Broadcast - streamsplitting by Riverbed/Cisco WAAS feasible?
hello Community
As alternative to using ECDN solutions (Kollective, Hyves) to mimize WAN impact, would one of the tradditional WAN Optimization solutions - Riverbed or Cisco WAAS - be able to deliver streamsplitting for the Skype Online Broadcast traffic? i have not been able to find such evidence or recommendation of Microsoft yet. If not feasible, I would be interested to understand the reason.
Can you provide some insight into the protocols used by Broadcast (RDP? VBSS?) ?
thanks in advance. Bas
FYI:
-Cisco WAAS provides optimizations for video delivery: Microsoft Windows Media stream splitting: Cisco WAAS interoperates with Microsoft Windows Media Technologies (WMT) over the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)
-Riverbed Stream Splitting applies to the following streams: Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS), Microsoft Silverlight Stream Splitting, Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS)

Curious to know if you ever have been able to get the RiverBed to inspect and optimize a Skype Meeting Broadcast? How about MS Stream? I see that the RiverBed has some support for MS Stream: https://support.riverbed.com/bin/support/static/oai5g7aso5ohsdtu7qii9s0s43/html/fjshfhcnlh3qk62t0d9utps44g/sct_app_sigs_html/index.html#page/sct_app_sigs_html/app_sigs_sct.html
Thanks!

Hi Bas,
You can find more information about the Skype Broadcast conferencing here: https://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/dn594589.aspx
Then you need the Skype for Business Server 2015 Protocol Workloads, it is documented on the last page.
